The Resolution
Various Xerox printer manuals say the following about error 016-799:
The print data contains invalid parameters. Check the print data and print options and try printing again.
The problem often seems to lie with paper sizes. Many users have reported that if the paper size is set to “custom” within the application they’re attempting to print from the printer may produce this error.
Some users have mentioned that the physical paper guides in the paper tray can cause the error if they’re not correctly lined up against the paper.
As such, the following troubleshooting steps are recommended. Perform each step in turn, checking after each one whether the problem has been solved.
•Open the printer paper tray(s) and ensure all physical paper guides are lined up correctly against the paper.
•Ensure the paper size is explicitly defined within the application you wish to print from; do not set it to “custom” or “automatic”.
•Ensure the paper source setting is correct in the printer properties. For example, if the paper is located in tray 2, the paper source should be tray 2.
•Check all other printer settings. It may be that something has been accidentally set when it shouldn’t be.
•Re-install the print driver
•Consider replacing the print driver with the Xerox Global Print Driver (PCL 6)
