hp 2300L has started printing pages entirely in black.
Progression: 1. It started with black horizontal bands. Text could be seen on the page with proper alignment. 2. Then the page became mostly black as the bands increased in density. At this point the text appeared normally as black text on a white background (with the horizontal bands). Then there was a "negative effect" with white text on a black horizontally striped background ghosted/overlapped 95 mm from the top of the original black text.
3. Now the pages are jet black with no text visible.
HP's site has nothing on this that I can find. Is this an indication that the fuser is shot, as suggested in the toner smudging question for this printer?

First thing to try is the easiest. Replace the toner cartridge. The fuser has absolutely nothing to do with the problem.
