Epson R2400 flashing top two lights.
After replacing a cart that was out of ink (and making sure the new cart was seated firmly), instead of the red light going out and the normal head cleaning/ink flushing happening, the red light stayed on and nothing happened. Epson Utility was on, and said it had lost contact with the printer.|
I tried turning the printer off then on again: the two top buttons flashed red continually and nothing else worked. The printer was blocked.
I tried turning the printer off and unplugging it from the USB port, then turning it on while holding down the two buttons necessary to print out a report, but nothing happened except the two lights continued flashing as above.
I looked in the manual but couldn't find a reference except for a paper jam, which this wasn't. Plain paper in holder, but nothing jammed as I wasn't printing when the problem occurred.
I wrote an email to Epson support but they responded giving me a phone number in the US to call for their Advanced Support Dept. instead of simply telling me what those flashing lights mean. I am in France, not the US but Epson has no email nor any direct support here, and only refers you to repair shops, which are unlikely to help by phone as they want to get your business.
I have had Epson printers for many years but this is the first time I have come across this problem.
Does anyone know what those flashing lights mean and how to solve the problem?
