From time to time my hp 2410 photosmart printer stops workings, and just grinds and grinds and grinds. I unplug it, wait DAYS, then plug it back in - and viola - it works.
Recently, it just grinds and nothing I have tried works. I have contacted hp service, but none of their suggestions worked either.
I just stumbled across this website, and noticed a multiple of users appear to have this problem of grinding.
I wrote hp and asked for a FREE service call - just like the Auto dealers with their RECALLS - when they KNOW something went out WRONG.
Interesting to see what they answer. Of course it will be NO - but it felt good writing to them.
I know one thing - I will never purchase an hp again. NEVER.

hp 2410 in 2/2004 which means it is now 6-years old. I am sure almost everyone that had an hp 2410 no longer has one but I held on to mine because I have never had it serviced even though I have had the same power outage problems/grinding noise everyone else has had. But, after unplugging and replugging, it would begin working again. However, a week ago, no matter what I did, nothing worked. I wanted to clean the glass underneath as recommended here but I was afraid I would ruin something so I decided to take it to a printer repair company. I was told I had a bad scanner and it would be cheaper to buy another printer than to repair the 2410. I was also told that more than likely, hp no longer even had the part. I was asked if I wanted them to trash the printer or come pick it up and I decided to pick it up. I went to Sam's Club and purchased another printer and therefore, no longer had the fear of taking the old printer apart. I noticed the glass still had a cloudy appearance which told me the printer company did not attempt to clean the glass and I began to wonder if they did anything to the printer at all. I followed the link in previous forums for instructions for cleaning the glass. I followed those instructions and immediately after reconnecting the power to my printer, it began to work. I haven't had a chance to try the fax feature but printing and copying features are working fine. I will probably hold on to my new printer for about a week to make sure the old 2410 continues to work and if so, I will return the new printer which will give me a little money for other more immediate needs. So, thanks to all who have contributed to this forum because spending time reading others problems and resolutions became a huge help for me.
